Sunday Filipino Buffet with the Consunjis

Our family, the Consunji clan to be specific, loves to eat. Whether there is a reason to celebrate of not, we all make it a point to come together and enjoy good food. I grew up with a weekly tradition of Sunday Lunch with my cousins and my grandparents. We would either meet in a particular house (my mom's siblings took turns sponsoring the venues) or go to a restaurant (most of the time it was either Chinese, Filipino or Japanese - the top three cuisines that my Lolo Pert loved). However through the years and with the demise of Lolo Pert and my mom, we all got caught up in our busy schedules. The weekly Sunday lunch no longer continued. What stayed though was the Birthday Celebrations with the whole clan! After all, a birthday is always a reason to come together and dine as one big brady bunch.

Yesterday, my Tito Lito hosted a great and traditional Filipino buffet in Corito's Garden. It was a double celebration  : Tito Lito and Ate Rhina's birthday.

Always the star of the show - Lechon de Leche that Pipo stuffed with his secret spices and tanglad

Grilled Tilapia

Vegetables to go with the Kare Kare - sitaw, puso ng saging and pechay

Kare-Kare - Ox tail and Ox Tripe

Adobong Pusit

Fried Lumpiang Ubod with Garlic-Vinegar Dipping Sauce

Halabos - Steamed Sweet and Succulent Shrimps with Ate Charry's special soy dipping sauce

Liver, Gizzard and Chicken Egg Adobo

Tito Lito's Special Barbeque

The classic Grilled Pork - Inihaw na Baboy with Ate Charry's Tomato,Onion and Cilantro Salsa

Refreshing Dayap Juice

An assortment of suman - tamales, batangas suman and suman sa lihiya

Thank you Consunji's for such a wonderful Filipino feast!
